Celebrating Learning Disability Week 2025: “Do You See Me?”

12th June 2025

Learning Disability Week 2025 takes place from Monday 16 June to Sunday 22 June, and this year’s powerful theme is “Do You See Me?”—a call to action to ensure that people with learning disabilities are seen, heard, and valued in every part of life.

Why This Week Matters

Organised annually by Mencap, Learning Disability Week is a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and celebrate the contributions of people with learning disabilities. It’s also a chance to reflect on how we, as communities and housing providers, can do more to support inclusion and independence.

At FHA we believe that everyone deserves a safe, supportive, and inclusive place to call home. That’s why we’re proud to support Learning Disability Week and amplify the voices of our tenants and community members with learning disabilities.

This Year’s Theme: “Do You See Me?”

The 2025 theme, “Do You See Me?”, shines a spotlight on visibility and representation. It’s about recognising the talents, stories, and rights of people with learning disabilities—and making sure they are not overlooked in housing, employment, healthcare, and community life.

How You Can Take Part

  • Listen and learn: Take time to hear the experiences of people with learning disabilities.
  • Join the conversation: Use the hashtag #DoYouSeeMe on social media to show your support.
  • Get creative: Art and creativity are powerful tools for self-expression—why not join a local art session or host your own?
  • Challenge assumptions: Speak up when you see unfair treatment or barriers to inclusion.
  • Get active: Take part in Mencap’s One Big Walk. Mencap are encourage people to walk 1.5 million steps to help raise funds and awareness for the 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability.

Let’s Build Inclusive Communities Together

Learning Disability Week is a reminder that inclusion starts at home. At FHA we’re committed to creating environments where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Let’s make sure that every voice is heard—and every person is seen.
